Do you find it difficult to teach the sacraments to your students or kids? Let's be honest, the sacraments are pretty abstract concept! My students struggle with remembering the names or multiple names of the sacraments! Just when they finally remembered what the sacrament of Penance was, our priest would ask them ask question about the sacrament of Confession! My student(s) would turn to me wide eyed, completely confused. 😳 I decided to make a meaningful sacrament resource that would tackle these types of challenges. My Sacrament Flip Book isn't meant for a quick lesson, never to be referenced again. This resource has a wealth of knowledge in it (all material is referenced from the Catechism of the Catholic Church). The resource has interactive components to it as well. Hi Friends! I have been working hard to get more religion resources out for you! The next activity that is prepped and ready, is a lesson the Two Great Commandments. Don't worry, the 10 Commandments will be coming your way soon! Let's not forget that the Two Great Commandments are important as well. If we were to live by these two commandments only, we would also be following the 10 Commandments. I created a Great Commandment Flip Book that you can use in the classroom, or at home (for all my home schooling mamas out there). The kids have enjoyed having these books to help learn their new religion material. Each page focuses on one skill, and the tab at the top helps them remember the focus. In the flip book, the kids learn what a commandment is and why the are important. There is also a page for each commandment, with an activity to go along with the passage. Hi Friends!   This post is not teaching related, but I wanted to provide this resource for you! I recently finished my 3rd Whole30. It was by far my most successful one. It's not that I slipped up during my past whole30's, it's the first time I have actually achieved my food freedom.  If you haven't read Melissa's book Food Freedom Forever , you should! It would be a great read before or during your Whole30. When I did my first whole30, there was absolutely no compliant sauces, marinades, seasonings, bars, jerky, or places to eat in my area. I had to cook everything from scratch! It became a little exhausting, and I hadn't mastered food prep yet either. There wasn't a lot of quick and easy meals provided on the Instagram account yet. This time around was completely opposite! I had many options to add to my food list! We now have a Sprouts in our area, but Walmart has also stepped up their game! I have a cute Immaculate Conception craft I wanted to share with all of you! I wish I could have gotten it up sooner, but I have been pretty busy getting stuff done in my classroom.  The Immaculate Conception (IC) is celebrated on December 8th. In my early catholic years I always struggled with remembering what the IC stood for! I made a little craft to help students remember! The Immaculate Conception is the day we celebrate Mary being conceived without sin. The kids get to make a little Saint Anne Doll holding the baby Mary. Are you running Daily 5 centers in your classroom? Is it running smoothly? Are you experiencing some hiccups? This is a post to share my experience of Daily 5 and what I learned from implementing it into my classroom. If you want to start running Daily 5 centers in your classroom, I recommend you buy The Daily 5: Fostering Literacy in the Elementary Grade   book. After reading it, you can do more research on Daily 5 online. The book lays out all you need to know in order to run Daily 5 in your class. As a new teacher, learning Daily 5 centers and implementing it in my class was a huge struggle! It never seemed to run smooth, and a lot of the time I felt like my kids were off task.  It took me three years to successfully implement Daily 5 in my class. For some, that may seem a bit crazy, others may totally relate to the struggle (#thestruggleisreal) . Instead of giving up on Daily 5, I took time to reflect. I hope everyone had a fruitful and prayerful Lent! During Lent, I spent a lot of time working with my students on Stations of the Cross. Prior to actually praying the stations together, we spent time learning about them through this interactive book I made.  Each day, we spent time with 2-3 stations. Then the students added their own illustrations to the book. This helped my little ones connect with the stations much better than just being shown pictures. They were also able to spend time reflecting on them and asking MANY questions!  Once all the stations had been introduced, the students took their books and we went and prayed the stations together. I have first and second graders with me. Therefore, I kept the blurb under each station very simple. If you have older students, you could have them add more details of their own, then add an illustration. Most of my students internalized the lesson and they demonstrated that through play.
